Notes - 1. The gravestone in Herborn Jewish cemetery appears to be incorrectly dated as born16 Dec 1834 but we are fairly sure this is the same person as she was called Bette Loewenstein from Wasenbach and died 25 Apr 1886 in Herborn. It is unclear why this should be so as Bette's husband Jacob Loewenstein lived until November 1918 and therefore one assumes he would have supervised the preparation of the gravestone.
2. It appears that in her early years Bette Strauss was registered as Boehla Marcus which may appear confusing but is simply the patronymic name - Boehla daughter of Marcus. Her family took the name Strauss.
