Notes - Rolf's parents Adolf and Regina ran a sanatorium for TB patients in Bad Homburg. Rolf escaped from Germany to London via the Kindertransport. He was fostered by Reverend Henry Gow and his wife Edith of Whiteleaf near Monks Risborough, UK. Sadly and unbeknown to his parents, he must have contracted TB which lay dormant and he became ill died at the Brompton Hospital, London. He is buried at Hoop Lane Cemetery in Golders Green, London. The gravestone of Rev and Mrs Gow carries the following inscription relating to Rolf "Beloved ward of Elizabeth Gow. Happiness at home and school in his adopted country was cut short by illness for two and a half years, nobly born".
