Notes - Head of the Jewish community of Altdorf and mohel - he performed the brit (circumcision) on his own son. His listing of circumcisions performed in Altdorf is preserved in the Leo Baeck Institute archives in New York. He was a cattle dealer. He died aged 102 years old!
Note: Baruch's headstone reveals that he was not born in Altdorf.After a person’s name, often the place, from which he came, is stated. That means that the next letter after the name was ? , short for min = of, from. We find this letter together with 2 others at the beginning of the next line following his name: ??? . The next characters (left) are destroyed so that we cannot say that we have a complete word: meod = sehr / very, as the text beside the photo says. I think that Baruch’s relatives wanted to express that he came “from Ad…”. So research has to be continued with Samuel Weil in a localitystarting with Ad... written by Gerhard Buck
